We aim to provide a clean, warm and welcoming environment, to help you feel comfortable and at ease and to provide you with knowledge and care, to relieve you of any concerns. Our office is fun, positive and down to earth. We want you to feel as if you are at home with friends when you are with us. Going to the dentist is not always easy, but we are committed to making it a better experience and changing how you feel about coming to the dentist.

Josh Tran, DDS

A native of Montebello, CA, Dr. Josh Tran is one of the owners and founders of Highland Dental of Hayward. He attended the University of California San Diego and got his dental degree from the University of California San Francisco. He lived in Arizona for five years before returning to the Bay Area with his wife, Dr. Virna Villas, to start his practice here and build roots.

Dr. Tran has kept current on dental procedures through extensive continuing education in many areas, including implants, periodontal surgery, and cosmetic dentistry. He loves blending art, science, and engineering in dentistry to restore patients’ smiles.

Dr. Tran likes to make dentistry fun and enjoys taking the time to talk to his patients. Patient care and satisfaction is his number one priority. In his free time, he enjoys working on cars, snowboarding, mountain biking, eating good food, and spending time with his wife, son and daughter.

Virna Villas, DDS

Dr. Virna Villas was born and raised in Vallejo, CA. She earned her bachelor’s degree from California State University Sacramento and her dental degree from University of California San Francisco. She is passionate about making dentistry as comfortable as possible, especially for those with dental anxiety and fear. She puts her patients at ease by listening to them and explaining everything.

Dr. Villas has over 500 hours in advanced continuing education, covering topics such as Invisalign, sedation, and cosmetic dentistry. For Dr. Villas, the best feeling is watching someone who came into the office nervous or fearful leave their appointment smiling and happy.

When she’s not at work, she likes to read, hike, and spend time with her husband, Dr. Josh Tran, their son and daughter, and friends.

Brittany Watu, DDS

Dr. Watu received her undergraduate degree from University of the Pacific and her dental degree from Loma Linda University. Originally from Southern California, her hometown was Walnut, CA but in 2021 she made the Bay Area her new home for her and her family.

She enjoys learning new skills and what she loves most about dentistry is making lasting relationships with her patients. When she isn't practicing dentistry, she is a big fan of boba drinks, watching the latest on Netflix and singing Karaoke.
