Dental Implants in Hayward, CA

Missing teeth can cause many problems. They leave unattractive gaps in your smile, and over time the bone in empty sockets can start to reabsorb, leaving you with a sunken look around your mouth. Dental implants can help to restore missing teeth, correct the sunken look, and stop bone loss, improving both the appearance and the health of your mouth.

Dental implants consist of two parts: the titanium implant, which is embedded in your jawbone, and the abutment, which is used to attach a crown, bridge, or denture. The implant is surgically placed in the jawbone, and over time, fuses to the bone in a process called osseointegration. This gives a sturdy, permanent anchor for various tooth replacement options.

Dental Implant Options

If you have just one or two missing teeth, we can use implants to restore these teeth with a crown. The implant is placed and allowed to heal, and then a porcelain crown is crafted and attached to the abutment. This crown looks and functions just like a real tooth, allowing you to eat, speak, and brush normally.

If you need multiple teeth replaced, another option is an implant-supported bridge. For this solution, multiple implants will be placed into your jaw. Once the implants are healed, we will craft a bridge that is secured to the implants. Implant-supported bridges place less stress on your existing teeth than traditional bridges as they are anchored directly to the jawbone, rather than to healthy teeth.

How Are Implants Placed?

If there is insufficient bone at the implant site, bone grafts may be required before the implant can be placed. We will schedule an initial appointment for the implant placement. Multiple implants can be placed in one procedure. After the implants are placed and the gums are sutured, the implant will be allowed to heal for three to six months, giving the Dental implants titanium implant time to integrate with the bone.

Once the implant has healed and is correctly anchored, you can return to Highland Dental of Hayward to finish the restoration process. We will place the abutment and then take an impression of your mouth so the crown or bridge can be manufactured for a perfect fit. Once the crown is complete, it will be cemented to the abutment.

After a brief adjustment period, your new implants will feel and look completely natural. You can chew with them just like a real tooth, and your daily oral care routine will be the same as if they were natural teeth. Implants will restore your smile for years to come!
